OSHO KUNDALINI MEDITATION

 

Kundalini meditation is among the most popular Osho meditations. This meditation is powerful (and incredibly fun!) tantric practice that effectively melts away energetic blockages, releases stress, and moves the practitioner into states of deep bliss and joy. It awakens and balances flow of Kundalini energy making your body a one big vibrant instrument of peace and aliveness.

 

Osho recommended that it be done in the late afternoon. It helps to unwind from a day of work and begin your evening fresh and rejuvenated. By practicing it over time, gradually, mental anxieties, sexual and emotional knots melt, to be replaced by an open, vibrant and harmonious state of being.

 

Osho Kundalini Meditation is a shaking and dancing meditation in four stages. By being fully immersed in the shaking and dancing of the first two stages, you dissolve any blocks in your body and being, bringing a liquid flow to places where your energy feels blocked. The last two stages are there to move your energy upwards into silence.

 

Osho says”…Allow the shaking, don’t do it. Stand silently, feel it coming, and when your body starts a little trembling help it – but don’t do it. Enjoy it, feel blissful about it, allow it, receive it, welcome it – but don’t will it. If you force it, it will become an exercise, a bodily physical exercise. Then the shaking will be there but just on the surface, it will not penetrate you. You will remain solid, stone like, rock like within; you will remain a manipulator, the doer, and the body will just be following. The body is not the question – you are the question.” – Osho

 

 

Stage 1 - 15 minutes

 

Do an inner body scan and notice any area of your body that feels tense, contracted or restricted. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and with knees slightly bent. This position may create a slight trembling in your legs. Allow this trembling to move from the feet upwards and then begin exaggerating it till your whole body is trembling and shaking. Breath deep into the belly and make deep yet subtle noise coming from your perineum. Focus on your base, the pelvic floor, your genitals. Let go everywhere and become the shaking. Every part of your body should shake. Allow the shaking to come in unpredictable waves, sometimes with more wild movements and sometimes with softer rippling waves. Your eyes may be open or closed, preferably closed so that energy doesn’t go into concentrating on things around in the room.

 

 

Stage 2 - 15 minutes

 

Dance . . . any way you feel, let the energy that has arisen within move your hands and feet in an expressive dance and let the whole body move as it wishes. Let go into unstructured, free-flowing dance. Trust the way your body wants to move. Osho says:  “The dancer disappears in the dance till only the dance remains”.

 

 

Stage 3 - 15 minutes

 

Close your eyes and be still, sitting or standing, witnessing whatever is happening inside and out. As you meditate in silence you can simply witness your body, mind and emotions as a detached observer.

 

 

Stage 4 - 15 minutes

 

Keep your eyes closed, lie down and be still. Let you body go into a deep relaxation, and energies to settle down. The mind becomes completely relaxed, only a small flame of awareness remains within.

 

 

 

Osho says:

 

Do my meditations, but not will-fully. Don’t force them, rather let them happen. Float in them, abandon yourself in them, be absorbed, but not will-fully. Don’t manipulate because when you manipulate you are divided, you become two: the manipulator and the manipulated. Once you are two, heaven and hell are created immediately. Then there is a vast distance between you and the truth. Don’t manipulate. Allow things to happen.

 

The movement is not really a meditation. It is just preparation. You are preparing your instrument. When it is ready, then you stand in silence, then meditation starts. Then you are utterly there. You have woken yourself up by shaking and dancing – these are devices to make you a little more alert than you ordinarily are. Once you are alert, then the waiting.

 

Waiting is meditation; waiting with full awareness. And then it comes, it descends on you, it surrounds you, it plays around you, it dances around you, it cleanses you, it purifies you, it transforms you.
